The Globe, Hay-on-Wye | South Wales Wedding Videographer

As a wedding videographer based in South Wales, I’m lucky to film weddings in some of the most beautiful and unique venues across Wales. But Frances and Tom’s wedding at The Globe in Hay-on-Wye was genuinely one of those standout days. I’ve been lucky enough to know Tom and Frances for many years and so it was my absolute pleasure and honour when they asked me to film their special day. And it was a day full of warmth, personality, laughter, and incredible energy from their friends and family!

A Unique Wedding Venue in Hay-on-Wye, Wales

Hay-on-Wye, the famous Book Town on the Wales-England border, is already a dreamy location for couples looking for character and charm. The Globe, a beautifully converted 18th-century chapel, took it to another level. With its historic architecture, high ceilings, abundant natural light, and creative atmosphere, it was the perfect backdrop for Frances and Tom’s celebration.

For couples searching for unique wedding venues in Wales, The Globe offers something truly special. It’s relaxed, artistic, and full of soul. It perfectly matched the couple’s desire for an authentic, joyful day rather than a formal one.

There’s a record store in Hay-On-Wye called “Tom’s Records’ and so it was only right that in the afternoon, we took a walk from The Globe and over to the shop for Tom and Frances to both chose a record as a memento of their day!

Frances & Tom’s Wedding Story

Frances and Tom’s love story shone through every moment of their wedding day. Their connection was natural, playful, and deeply genuine. From quiet, emotional moments during their ceremony to the bursts of laughter with their loved ones, it was clear they share a friendship-first partnership built to last. Which made filming the day so enjoyable.

As their South Wales wedding videographer, capturing their day was a pleasure. The Globe’s flexible spaces allowed for a personal ceremony that felt warm and inclusive, while the surrounding Hay-on-Wye countryside and town provided beautiful spots for natural, relaxed portraits.

The People Who Made It Magical: Friends & Family

What truly made this wedding so special to film was the incredible group of friends and family who surrounded Frances and Tom. The absolutely brought the party, the love, and the energy that turned a beautiful day into an unforgettable celebration.

The dance floor stayed alive all evening with spontaneous singing, hilarious dance moves, and multi-generational fun. The whole room felt like one big, supportive community. The speeches were heartfelt, funny, and full of love. Exactly the kind of raw, real moments I love capturing in wedding films.

From relaxed mingling in the venue’s cosy corners to lively group celebrations, the atmosphere was electric yet warm. It was one of those weddings where you genuinely feel the love not just between the couple, but from everyone who came to support them.

Capturing Real Love on Film

Days like Frances and Tom’s are exactly why I became a wedding videographer. The mix of beautiful natural light flooding through The Globe’s windows, the stunning surroundings of Hay-on-Wye, and the genuine joy from their guests gave me so much wonderful footage to work with.

“Luke was the videographer for our wedding and he did an amazing job. From the lead up to the day, he was super easy to communicate with and took the time to go through our timeline so everything ran smoothly and naturally.

On the day, he made us feel completely comfortable and captured so many genuine moments without anything feeling forced. When we got the videos back, we were so happy with them. It was so special seeing all the little moments we would have otherwise missed, it genuinely felt like he was everywhere at once.

We watched the videos with our family at Christmas and it was so emotional, so much happiness captured! They’re something we’ll treasure forever, and we’re so glad we chose Luke. We honestly couldn’t recommend him highly enough. Thank you so much for everything!”
